The Gentleman and The Showgirl
In a dark and smoky jazz lounge, four Gentlemen have entered their haven. Far from the pressures of the 'real' world, they swill their brandy and puff on fine, thick cigars. They bluff one another good humouredly, one round of cards follows another. Until, that is, the entertainment starts. For this is no ordinary jazz lounge but a Cabaret. As the women, bedazzling and bejeweled in their showgirl finery, drape themselves over piano, table and lap. The host appears onstage to introduce 'her' girls, and the men wait, the air trapped in their lungs, to witness the Emerald in the glittering crown that is the Cabaret...
